If you’re trying to upload either through MacVideo or Kaltura Capture, your internet connection will dictate how long this process will take. If you’re experiencing issues specifically with uploading through Kaltura Capture, go to this article.
We recommend a cable internet connection with at least a 5Mpbs upload speed. You can test your internet speed on Google search or sites such as www.speedtest.net.
If your internet connection is slower, here are some tips that may help:
1. Try switching from a wifi internet connection to a wired connection.
2. Make sure there are no other people or applications that are running bandwidth intensive applications (watching movies, youtube or downloading).
Additionally, an option is to record shorter length videos. We recommend to record 15 minute length videos. Not only will this make uploads quicker, but evidence shows that learning and engagement suffer when videos are more than 15 minutes.
If you find videos not uploading at all through the MacVideo website please make sure you try disabling any 3rd party browser extensions you have installed. For example if you have several ad-blockers on, this could prevent any uploads through the browser.
If you have a good internet connection and are still having issues uploading, please first check the server status at this link. If the server status is operational and your upload did not complete, please try cancelling the upload and starting again. If after two tries please contact us.
